If I remember correctly, the tank to pump line on a top fuel car is a -16AN, but that was 20 years ago, it may be bigger now.1963 Fairlane - future NSS drag car

The laws of physics apply here. Correct air/fuel ratio in an internal combustion engine is quite precise and something like 17:1. If somehow you can force more fuel into the cylinders then automatically you're also going to have to force in a corresponding amount more of air.
There is nothing simple about trying to circumvent EFI setups. Back in the days of carburetors you could increase the amount of gas going in and the intake air volume without going to too much trouble but even then you had to figure on installing oversize valves (and a whole bunch of other stuff) while you were at it in order to really make it all work.
