  • How ugly a festiva would you drive if it got 70+ MPG?

    Would you drive this beast?

I rock it all the time for long trips to pick up car parts and do some competitive shooting.

I'm hoping for a minimum of 70 MPG at 60-65 MPG. The huge boat tail is the latest mod. Was getting 60+ before at 60 MPH.

I'd drive it, for road trips as you do. Keep us posted on your numbers!

I love it. Would have zero problem driving it. I could not care less what the general public thinks of me, that's why I drive a festiva, live in a modest house and wear basic thrift store clothing.

Very interested to know more about your project.
      Because....45 MPG.

Ive had prolly like 6 festivas. None of them ever had the B3. I choose festiva for a different reason. I respect your aero mods and would drive it on long trips.

          Old Mod list:

          Kammback
Partial underbelly about first three feet of front.
          Wheel covers
          Side skirts on back.
          Grill block

Was averaging 55-60 MPG no matter how I drove. A little over 60 if I pulse and glided and did closer to 55 MPH.

          New mods:

          Longer boattail
Underbelly tray is complete from front to back.

Hoping for averages now in the low 60's and maybe 65 MPG at 60 MPH.

Will test this weekend and report back.

Future mods are an electric water pump and alternator delete. May not be feasible but want to try it once or twice to see the MPG gain.

Barring that, you have any pics on how you put some of the mods together?

No point in selling. It's perfect mechanically and only 108k miles. Wouldn't be able to sell it for enough to make it worthwhile with as much driving as I do.

All the mods are sheet metal and self tapping screws. Not the ideal attachment method but I never cared much about resale lol.

If gas was back at $5 Id rock it. At $3 Id pass.

I would drive it, when I was 17 Horsepower got me hard, now 10 years later anything over 40 mpg does the same thing. Oh how things have changed,

I would only drive it, if you can make it look like the Aptera.

My dignity is worth spending a bit of money on gas lol
