Well, one or more of 3 things happened: too little grease, too tight, and/or too loose. When you pack them, use a moly grease, not a standard bearing grease. The outer bearing takes ALOT of abuse durring its life and a sub standard grease will shorten its life considerably. Pack them heavy for the initial install, and have a small air gap in the center section between the 2 bearings. Over filling the center will cause issues more than under filling it. When you seat the bearings, only spin the drum in the direction of travel and only tighten the nut untill there's noticable drag, then back off about 1/8. If you can, do this with the wheel on and torqued. There should be the slightest bit of play. Drive it for a day and recheck the play, adjust as needed.
