I would gladly buy that new vw. I could care less. You're telling me that they made the car better in every way except emissions and they made a way to beat the system? Sounds like regular old German engineering at work.

Which do you need, carbie tank or FI? I have a decent carb tank from a recent carb to FI swap that you can have for free if you could use it. PM me if you're interested.

hey guys im in need of new a FI tank as well... i thought id ask here and hold off on a new thread.. Does anyone know if the 88-89 tank will work in a 93? im checking ebay and the cheap ones are for older models, im assuming carbys, and the more expensive ones either dont have dates or are compatible.. question is, are they interchangeable or do i have to shell out a bit more for my 93 FI?

They make 2 part putty thats meant for gas tanks and stuff. However just like any other metal or bodywork the prepwork is quite important.

The 88 to 89 tank is carbureted. You can make a carb tank work but I would just spend the extra money and get a fuel injected tank. It's way easier. I have a carbon tank on my fuel injected car, I had to read drill holes for the sender and then put a dish inside of the gas tank so it did not stall on turning. It was a lot of effort and It was not worth the trouble. Should've bought a new FI tank.
