  • My Florida Festiva

I have been pondering what i want to do with my auto festy i picked up in Miami this past winter. It has been my dd as i way to slowly do rustoration on my extreme high mile favorite manual.A part of me hates to let a rust free, low mile, flashy festy with custom interior and wheels go but i can only drive one at a time and i dont like the auto trans.I have everything to do a swap to a manual but haven't been motivated to do it.I had a guy approach me in town this morning that said if i wanted to sell he would be interested.I threw a number on the high side for festies and he gave me a card and told me to call him.I am thinking i will clean it up a bit and get back to him and see if it happens.

Cars are going up= parts are going up. As they say, a bird in the hand may be worth two in the bush.

I don't know how financially well off you are, and yeah, I wouldn't trust an auto as much- though for my driving these days- a running one would certainlky suit me, and if I get any more broken down, I may end up preferring it. If it's running well now- doesn't that give you time to get a swap going. You may even decide not to. "If it ain't broke"and all that as one especially hears on the Motorbicycling board.

I've got two other old jalopies besides my DD '96 aspire- (just got some '87 alloy Honda 13 rims for the next tire change) and I can't really do much on them anymore

I've kicked myself slightly for having the '95 escort wagon in the yard and a '91 Festy in the shed - I really only meant to have one old backup- at New Years my newest car will be 20 years old!

But limited financial means, and I see the possibility of being able to buy even a better used car slipping away- so I haven't sold any.

The Escorts only got 118 K and new belts and water pump-had a "mobile mechanic" put them on- and seems ready to run otherwise, but I haven't got the A/C to work yet

and the Festy says 76K but a salvage title so I can't be sure- no rust and pops to life-
I think I'm covered mostly until the end of life if I have to be- 62 and don't feel I'll make 82.

but I'd rather have a nicer car with working a/c and everything- the kids put SOOOO MANY miles on them soooo fast these days it blows my mind. Oh well- I have a bail if one should fail, and then some- life's been good to me so far

    :ia:

Yes but i have 2 other festies i can drive that already have manual. One is rust free out of Az that i bought as a shell and need to finish out.Biggest problem is i love the thrill of the hunt and the rush of acquisition but on the other hand desire to be a minimalistic. So i have to let stuff go so i can get more stuff so i can let stuff go.......

Must control impulse to buy another. There was one close buy up that i wanted cause i really like the aqua color. The way i controlled my impulse was to ask my wife what she thought lol.Went thru a span when she never knew what different car i might have when she came home from work. She tolerated it and was supportive but now i am more inclined to ask and listen before leaping.....most of the time.

There's one in Missoula that I would like to go pick up. Currently I have 3 in the driveway and soon to be 4. I also have 4 on another peice of property. I asked the wife and her reply was "do you really need another?"

How about some pic's of the one you want to sell.

Brave as far as sharing the wealth i can offer free advise so yall can keep more of your hard earned money. I have taken up dumpster diving for food.I can save 50 bucks tax free a pop on a good day in 15 minutes. One stop shopping lol.Last time i did this a couple bums tried to hit me for some "spare" money.I told them maybe after i got a job(So probably never). They dont need to know that i am independently wealthy or poor depending on perspective.

May have spoke to soon about the job thing lol.My wife was injured at work three months ago and today received termination.Thankfully i already have us positioned so that we can ride it out for up to a year especially if i keep diving for free food lol.
