Would taller tires give you the same effect as changing 5th gear. Besides that it would elongate all the gears. I guess that's closer to a differential swap

Crawlpedia's RPM and Engine Speed Calculator will find your engine RPM at any speed given your transmission ratio, ring and pinion gear ratios, and vehicle speed.

The best tire size calculator. Use our tire size calculator to find tire size specs and suggested tire sizes. Then check prices for all available tire sizes.

You can play with numbers on calculators like these.

185/60r14 tire is 22.7 inches, 3.85 diff ratio for the capri trans, .71 5th gear (stock is .79 or .8 I think), 7200 rpm comes out to 178 mph.

Good luck actually doing that. Without dying.

163mph? These cars stay on the ground at that speed? Lol, Or did he have to do some aero modifications?
What we actually need is a custom tuneable CVT that can handle 500hp. So you can set it for best fuel economy, make it feel like actual gears, set it to stay right at the peak hp rpm while doing a 1/4 mile, or have it stay right at max rpm all the way to 200mph, lol.

Charlie said the Festiva was very stable at speed. Like 140ish IIRC. Something about the way it's shaped creates drag behind the car I think.

Now if you have crappy stock suspension, well that's different.

Besides that the front windshield is a huge wedge.
