I just purchased my fourth squeaky-clean (no rust) LX. I think I have critical mass now to justify renting some industrial space and hiring a local motivated kid-genius wrench-slinger to upgrade them all to FI. Every one of the four has carb stumbling problems. I have plenty of complete FI donors, all with body issues, so they are "donors" which will be scrapped after this is done. A friend 50 miles away whose back yard is filled with these donors will surely be happy to see them disappear.
I know that I'll have to transplant fuel tanks and wiring harnesses. I also want to replace all kinds of stuff like shifter bushings and virtually every rubber part during the process, including having the gearboxes overhauled and replacing all of the drive shafts, wheel bearings, brakes, etc.
See attached photo of three of my four LXs, plus a 91GL with PS behind them.
The only problem is being able to FIRST place a LARGE order with Four Green. I want to buy every conceivable part I might need, NOT wait until something is partially disassembled.
While Bravekozak and other have been able to provide occasional part info, I want to have everything on the bench before I start and be prepared to place additional "rush" orders during the project.
I recently visited this place:
and talked with the proprietor. He has hardbound Ford books that may well have all the info I need, but each book is specific to one model year and cover EVERYTHING Ford sold that year, not just Festivas. Also, he has separate books (again, one per model year), each covering all models for that year. Each book costs more than $100, sometimes close to $200. I spent an hour there puzzling over how to find things this way and it's a royal pain.
I also want to have electrical schematics, but I don't think that's so much of an issue, having already collected several years of them (including 89, I think) off this site. I also have an original 93 green service manual I bought from Ford back in 2000 when I got my first Festy.
Sure somebody has the illustrations and p/n info I need in a usable form ...
