    See, you're making progress already!

What about a carb upgrade tho?

There's nothing Russian about Festiva, but there is a lot Korean about Kia Prides. That website is only for Korean made vehicles and , judging by the number listed, they must have many, or a variety of them, in Russia. You asked for illustrations and part numbers and it has both. Maybe our new Prez, being tight with Putin, will get it translated so it will meet your needs. If you think a Ford dealer can access all that info in English, get them to do it for you. I find the method I suggested quite usable, and that was what you asked for.

    Two alternate possibilities for you:
    1. learn Russian
    or (possibly easier)
    2. convert one or two of them to run an Escort or Weber carb, to get rid of your carb stumbling issues. That would give you time to do the others more at your leisure. This is also a lot quicker and cheaper than converting to EFI.

This is a Korean car whose design and manufacture was commissioned by an American company called Ford. It was heavily imported into English-speaking countries called USA and Canada, and many countries in Western Europe under various names.

How could it be that documentation is only available in Russian? Am I the only speaker of English (plus some French and a bit of German) who is scratching his head on this one?

Any Ford dealer can pull up the diagrams in English. Where do they get their information?

The Russian site http://koreacat.ru/kia/groups/GEXK0309/? has pretty good illustrations/ exploded views, but the nomenclature often is bizarre, even translated into English. Not totally inclusive, but pretty thorough and with part numbers you can plug in at Fourgreen. I like to run it in Chrome with automatic translation, copy numbers, and then have Fourgreen running in a separate browser ready to paste the numbers. It will not have things that were specific to US cars, like auto seatbelts.

    William,

I don't have time to go through bits of info like this, effectively generating my own database of parts. Why is it so hard to get this kind of info? I've been asking on this site now for at least 3-5 years.

I could strike a deal with books4cars.com to get all the pages I need copied from the big books, but that seems like a goofy approach, and I'm not sure he has every year, nor that he'll let me make copies vs. buying whole books.

I also have a day job that keeps me alive and is going to pay for this. Much as I'd like to spend the rest of my life fiddling with Festies, that doesn't pay the mortgage!

I just purchased my fourth squeaky-clean (no rust) LX. I think I have critical mass now to justify renting some industrial space and hiring a local motivated kid-genius wrench-slinger to upgrade them all to FI. Every one of the four has carb stumbling problems. I have plenty of complete FI donors, all with body issues, so they are "donors" which will be scrapped after this is done. A friend 50 miles away whose back yard is filled with these donors will surely be happy to see them disappear.

I know that I'll have to transplant fuel tanks and wiring harnesses. I also want to replace all kinds of stuff like shifter bushings and virtually every rubber part during the process, including having the gearboxes overhauled and replacing all of the drive shafts, wheel bearings, brakes, etc.

See attached photo of three of my four LXs, plus a 91GL with PS behind them.

The only problem is being able to FIRST place a LARGE order with Four Green. I want to buy every conceivable part I might need, NOT wait until something is partially disassembled.

While Bravekozak and other have been able to provide occasional part info, I want to have everything on the bench before I start and be prepared to place additional "rush" orders during the project.

    I recently visited this place:

and talked with the proprietor. He has hardbound Ford books that may well have all the info I need, but each book is specific to one model year and cover EVERYTHING Ford sold that year, not just Festivas. Also, he has separate books (again, one per model year), each covering all models for that year. Each book costs more than $100, sometimes close to $200. I spent an hour there puzzling over how to find things this way and it's a royal pain.

I also want to have electrical schematics, but I don't think that's so much of an issue, having already collected several years of them (including 89, I think) off this site. I also have an original 93 green service manual I bought from Ford back in 2000 when I got my first Festy.

Sure somebody has the illustrations and p/n info I need in a usable form ...
