The Aspire 5 speeds are piss ass junk... i had an Aspire with 40,000 miles and the transmission blew up... was drove by my grandma it's entire life to the store and when she sold it to dad it was in mint condition! Dad drove it just the same way nice and easy and 20,000 miles later it blew up... this engine has seen 5 transmissions since than always drove the thing nice and easy... the thing that made it worse was using ATF in a manual transmission... we switched to 75w-90 gear oil and haven't had any problems so far... this has been the best transmission so far

The SE I sold to ThisVelologist had 20W50 racing motorcycle oil in it, and ran fine. AFAIK it is the original tranny, and has ~185K miles on it. I inherited a lot of repair records when I bought the car, and it was all normal maintenance stuff.
Maybe the Aspire trannys are more sensitive to what fluid you put in them. I tried searching, but not much luck. What would need to be done to install an F Series from a 323? Are the gear ratios much different than the Aspire E series?Rick
