  • B3 in the Capri?

So I'm looking at an empty Capri shell with fenders off, convertible top removed and sold off, stripped out mostly. Is it almost a shame to crush this thing or should I put the hubs back on and throw the B3 in it? It would basically be a ratrod with its sole purpose being a running and driving automobile instead of getting sent to the crusher. A complete waste of time? Thoughts?

Not really sure, would it be something you would keep or you plan to sell it?
I heard a guy once put a b3 into a miata for better fuel milage and loved it, but it seemed odd to me.

It would be solely for fuel mileage if you went that route, any performance would be thrown out the window as the Capri is heavier yet than the aspire.

In reality, I shouldn't keep this car and send it to the crusher simply because I need the driveway space back. The hotrodder in me says to no waste a chassis especially when I have a fully capable engine to move it. It would be an anomalie since I would probably want to straight pipe it and probably carb it. It wouldn't have a top or interior or anything really as there would be no need to keep it at this point. It's essentially a free car. Maybe mad max it out for a car show or two. Hood vented exhaust B3? Why not?

Just for context, this car was a running and driveable 1991 xr2. It sat in a barn for a while and the exterior looks like hell. Compression on the engine was good and after inspecting the small nose crank, it was ok, it's getting rebuilt and will be going into my Festiva.

In theory it should be perfectly do-able. It will be slow though. Capri's are heavier even than Miata's. The festy trans will also have poor gearing for it.

So, Festiva knuckles should bolt to the Capri to take the axles in theroy. I either want the most budget car ever or just crush it essentially...!?

How's the car look? I made some decent money parting out my old capri before crushing it and it had rust.

It's a southern car, no rust, but the exterior is ROUGH... Clear coat peeling all over but body is totally straight. Paid $550 for it. I've pulled mostly everything out/off of it. My CL ad for anything besides engine and transmission has only sold the ratty top. Top went to a guy with a Studebaker custom car wanting to chop it up to fit his car. That got me thinking... Ratrod!

Straightpiped turbo b3 with unequal length headers and no top. That would make a worthwhile ratrod!

I think I'm gonna do it. What should the license plate say? Going to the get the Festiva locked up with: "Reeeeee"

                      While I'm down there...

Screw it. I need the garage and driveway space for an incoming car. xr2 parts will be fore sale soon. What's a fair asking price for the front brakes and hubs?

Yes I have. I like them and Skippy's been needing a set for a while. 2 hard stops from 50 and the stockers are cooked.
