        • Thanks william.

I am wondering what to do because my car is sitting in my school parking lot and I have to move it before it gets towed. Any suggestions?

          • Because of where/how it broke, the fastest solution is a new length of cable from a hardware store and loop one end around a bar crimp for the pedal side and a similar end for the fork arm with the arm under a bit of compression via a C clamp so there's enough room to work and get it snug.

Second and 4th pics are your best bet

            • If you just have to make it out of the parking lot and to safe parking where ever you will have to read this and evaluate where you have to drive too, light, stop signs, traffic and your own ability. I drove for 3 weeks without using the clutch pedal when I broke my left foot. The car will start on flat land or down hill in 1st gear listen to your engine the speed/rpm and everything you used to shift to second at that point pull it into neutral blip the throttle and as the motor is slowing down put gentle pressure on the shifter coaxing it to 2nd when the engine rpm and road speed match it will fall into second do the same for third and fourth if you need them. Downshifting is same procedure just harder to match speed because you have to rev the engine higher. Time your lights and don't stop anywhere you cant start in 1st gear, Get home order your new cable. Unless of coarse you already have a cable/time/etc. then of coarse fix it where it sits. But FWIW they really do shift easy w no clutch. It's just like driving a tranny w no synchros.

Oh crap! I'm sorry forgot to take a pic of the festy towbar today will try to remember tomorrow.

              • Agreed^ if your a competant driver its easy. I was once working way out in some hick town and the clutch quit on our f250. We had a pretty big trailer behind it, finished up the day working in that town just starting it in gear, then drove 200 miles back home to get it fixed. Only was 2 sketchy times- one was trying to start it in reverse around a corner up a hill and the batteries almost didnt have enough, second was right after that at a stoplight we couldnt coast up to slow enough, so made a right turn and a u-turn later.
Was good fun for me that day since i wasnt driving and didnt own the truck.
Just go easy on the transmission, but its not bad for 1 day.

Sounds like fun times. I am good at it. most of the time daily puttering around I don't use the clutch, haven't for years it's kinda funny because its just second nature now and friends riding in the car will look at me all puzzled and ask, did you just shift without using the clutch...

                  • I found this, too funny LOL, read it all it is festiva related.

Geez, you'd think you lot never drove old cars or tractors or been a car with a shot clutch. Balance it by the revs (use your ears and yer arse if you havent a tach) and do it by golly.

Cruise control, automatic transmission, stepless shift, engine being turned off between gear changes for a smoother shift, triptronic gearboxes controlled by paddles. By gosh no wonder (most) Americans cant drive for shit, no wonder so many accidents are caused by someone on a cellphone or shaving or eating a donut or reading the paper. Youve got bugger all to do except push one of two pedals and wind a wheel, even most of the roads are straight lines 8 lanes wide.

If you cant drive it sideways, manual gearbox, barely touching the clutch (heel n toe dabs or syncro changing), then you have no right to call yourself a 'keen driver'

Bah, why the hell does the average Us car NEED a v6 4.3L engine? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING with it? youre tooling along at 55mph for the most part? Heloooooooooooooooooo I had a 957cc fiesta (1984) and had it cranked up to around 100mph, you DONT NEED all those CCs...

Im sorry, what was I ranting about again?

                    • Will someone fix the language above please...

Oh and Rick, the 4.3 is a complete turd of an engine, put into a turd of a chassis, put in front of a turd of a trans. And then that rolling turd is asked to do 80 (not 55).
You can get a Festy up to 100 with no power because it weighs nothing. Add another 2500lbs and anti-aerodynamics, and much more power is required.

                      • Hey thanks for the suggestions guys. Shifting without the clutch makes me cringe but I guess I might have to try it. Festyboy what you suggested is a good idea but I don't think I could do it properly. maybe ill see how much my shop would charge to fix this for me by driving without a clutch there.

I didn't write that.I just ran across it and thought the guy was funny telling us we don't know how to drive and everything. Can fudge use a stock cable? Is the cable he needs hard to come buy?

                          • Stock cable doesn't have the reach required to fit the adapter kit.

No it isn't as good as a store bolt bar but it has seen hundreds of miles pulling several cars. I would make some improvents if I were to build another one but that is because I use it so much. This one works great and is cheap. Use a safety chain and common sense. The gear puller I built something similiar years ago and use still I don't have a pic but it is very similiar to the puller but for the back bar I used a piece of slotted channel Iron and instead of a threaded rod I use a small hydraulic jack, just imagine that puller no threaded rod a jack right where the rod is.
