Didn't make it to autocross today. Looking towards October in Danville.

I hope I get to go to both days of that autocross since it's the last of the season!

If anyone has an extra spring for any of the pedals I need one for my clutch pedal. Would greatly appreciate it if someone would bring me one to madness! I could get one from a jy but it's a busy time of year for me.

This week I got to drive my festiva for the first time in a month, miss driving it so much!

    • Just out of curiousity what was sort of suspension and tire setup were you running when you wrecked? Spring rates?

          • It's a little too fun around corners haha.

I meant to ask on here, I have been hearing this whistle noise in 5th gear when I press the gas pedal. Even when I am slightly on the gas there is a whistle. Idk about other gears but I cruise in 5th and that's where I notice it. Is this something I should pay attention to?

            • Its your turbo...
Aka the alternator on an n/a car. Is it coming through the speakers? From the engine or transmission?

              • Hahaha no turbo yet
I am not sure where it is coming from, just heard this whistle noise ever since my gf pointed it out and now I really notice it. I will listen when I drive next time.

                • Could be interference from the Alternator like Ryan stated. Turn your Radio off completely or remove the fuse and see if it still makes the noise.

                  • today I am changing my coolant and I am in the middle of flushing it with water and radiator flush right now. When I started my car I noticed a noise that sounds like an air leak coming from behind my engine. It sounds like a hose is lose or has a hole or something like that, couldnt seem to find where its coming from. its between my engine and the fire wall.

                    • Make sure you flush with distilled water and not tap. Can’t help much with bp stuffs.

                        • Does the hissing noise continue for a couple seconds after you turn the car off? If so it may be the diaphragm in the brake booster going bad from what i was told.

If not then take a can of Starting Fluid and start spraying a little around the engine to see if the engine idles up, that will indicate a vacuum leak.

                            • Dang that's no fun sorry to hear that man. I look forward to next season and hopefully I will have a set of light wheels with special tires on them for autocross.

took my radiator about 5 flushes to come clean and it's still not as clean as I want it, almost there though!

I guess I will be working on the vacuum leak next. pretty sure that's what it is because it sounds like it's from the opposite side of the brake booster.

Opposite side as in behind the booster, or the passenger side of the car? Have you tried spring starting fluid etc around where you think the leak is coming from yet?
