  • B8 vs b6 sohc weight

I currently have a b8-me swapped festiva and can't help but wonder if it actually has any advantage over the b6 sohc, does anyone know the weight difference between the two blocks ? My thought process is that you'daube get the same power to weight ratio but it would be easier on the transmission as you're pulling around less weight.

The B8/BP is longer than the B3/B6 but not much, less than an inch.

The weight difference would be negligible. Probably less than 10 lbs.

The slight difference in weight is almost certainly offset by the much higher HP of the B8. The extra weight is nothing when you factor in the total weight of the car.

Thanks for the quick reply guy that's all I was looking for, just wasn't sure what the actual weight difference was.
