As promised, here is where I'll begin telling about Rosie's new life.
I flew down to Myrtle Beach and Jesse picked me up in Rosie. We had a two hour ride back to his house, with a restaurant interlude in between.
Jesse and his wife were great hosts and I wish I could have spent an extra day there to see more of Charleston, SC. Oh, but it stayed hothothot and hee-uuuuu-mid to boot! By the time Jesse and I had loaded the trailer up on Thursday I was soaking wet. It was nice to take a shower before leaving! Before doing so, I took Jesse and Rosie on a little trip around the neighborhood to get used to the trailer, with some backing up practice included. It was sad to say good-bye for me, and I think it was for Jesse as well. One of the reasons I had been impressed enough to buy Rosie was the amount of work done to her to fix her up for one of the grandsons. Things change, however! I will try to do justice to Jesse's work and care!
I had planned to stop by the Black Mountain area near Asheville, NC on the way back, but the museum had closed at 5pm and I passed by that town around 5:30pm I think. Right afterwards, a mint looking Rabbit GTi jumped on the road (which turned into Route 23 north) for awhile and that was probably the most "contemporary" car I saw on the way home.
I stayed in a motel that night, and briefly considered going back to Asheville and Black Mountain on Friday. My stepmother had died on July 10th, and I was lucky my Dad told me to go ahead with my trip, and I was lucky others in the family were with him while I was gone. He also told me to take an extra day if I wanted, but sleeping on it that night I decided to go on home. A separate trip to the Black Mountain College area is in the works later on.
I got home Friday around 5:00pm, leaving the trailer locked on the car overnight. The next day I took all the loaded parts up to my church and offloaded them with no problems.
The trailer is now locked up at home and Rosie had been fine.
Let's see if I can do a picture.
