Hey all, I've been thinking recently about picking up a second vehicle so that I can retire my Jeep from daily-driver duty for some intensive repair work (read: new engine). It would need to be small, good on gas, inexpensive, fun to drive, and I'd like to buy something a little unusual. One of my coworkers recently purchased a Festiva, and after talking with him I think that a Festiva would fit all my criteria. I just have a few questions to ask of all of you before I make up my mind.
How does the Festiva stack up in the longevity department? Whatever car I buy will probably be driven 100,000 miles in the next three years or so (several cross-country trips per year). Are there any years of Festiva to stay away from? Are the fuel-injected years more reliable than the carbed? Is the five-speed better than the four (no auto for me).
Another question, this one a bit sillier. I know a Festiva is a small car, but is it small enough to fit into the eight-foot bed of a pickup truck? I don't have a trailer, so if I need to drive a ways to find a rust-free Festiva and can't find someone to accompany me, I may need to do something like put it in the back of my dad's F-250 if it'd fit (the truck can safely carry almost 3500 pounds in the bed, and I have a pair of long ramps that I'm sure could handle a thousand pounds apiece).
Thanks in advance for any answers.
Matt
