  • First time Festiva Owner.. couple questions..

actually just picked up the car yesterday. i'm used to small cars but this is SMALL!! i like it though, and nice to see such a good bunch of enthusiasts.

wanted to pick your brains real quick..

1.) anybody ever try laying the rear wiper flat on a festiva? in all the pics i've seen of festiva modders, no one's done it..
I've been a VW nut all my life, and one of the easiest hatchback mods ever was laying the rear wiper flat.. example:

wanted to give it a shot on the festiva, just wondering before i get in there if it's as easy as on the dubs.

2.) next nice day i wanted to get to work trying to de-badge the rear
    - are there holes under the ford logo?
if so i might not bother as i don't plan on repainting or really going too overboard modifying.

3.) was there ever a factory roofrack for festivas that i may be able to track down online?

      1. I tried, I couldn't get it to work. If you can let us know how!
      2. Yes there are holes, the Ford logo is pinned on, other emblems ares stick on or decals.
      3. I believe t was a dealer option, saw one at the Festiva festival that had one.

it was simple (for the vw golf), it was just a matter of taking the cover off and rearanging the motor/gears to swipe the other way, then adjust the actual wiper arm accordingly.

i was hoping it'd be as simple for my festiva, but we'll see. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person, so if other people are saying they tried and failed, doubt i'll have much luck..

if i figure something out i'll post pics.
              thanks!

yes, there was a roof rack!
When I bought one new, back in 1990 (red LX plus), it came with one!
Black glass filled nylon I believe, like the exterior door handles!
Don't know if it was a dealer installed option or OEM.

a 93 accesories catalog shows 2 different dealer purchased roof rack 'systems' one was called the multi-sport removable rack. this one looks like it clipped to the upper part of the door frame and had optional locking knobs to prevent theft. there were 4 adapters you could buy for this rack. 1. bike adapter-holds one road or mountain bike (bicycle) 2. ski/snowboard adapter (small)-holds four pair of skis or one snowboard. 3. ski/snowboard adapter (large)-holds six pair of skis or two snowboards. 4. watersport adapter- holds sailboard/canoe/kayak. the other rack system was the 4 seasons base rack which was permanently mounted to the roof (screwed). in addition to using it for luggage, you could also purchase two additional adapters for this rack. 1. bike carrier adapter- one or two bicycles. 2. ski carrier adapter-holds three pair of skis/poles. it is also mentioned that the 4 seasons adapters will fit the 'factory-installed roof rack. i think i bought the wrong car for me. i'm definitely too lazy to keep up with the active lifestyle of the festiva.

trying to debage the car completely
as much as i love the festy, not too keen on american cars.

but it's a 92, all white with white bumpers and white wheels.
pretty badass little car, accept it's an automatic :x
if it were 5-speed it'd be a keeper for life.

                            anybody wanna trade? haha.

You can convert it to a manual! There is a list of whats required. Deathshead did it to his car.
