wasn't the cougar a upscale mustang in the late 60's.

OR something like the audi TT, new beetle, golf, jetta, & audi A4 are all the same frame.

If you'll notice in the third post I'm not including models that are the same but produced by the same big company. I.E. audi and VW, mercury lincoln ford etc.

They both were really just rebodied Falcons until '66, and the
Cougar got on a bigger chassis in 1973, the G.Torino/T-Bird
frame, that stayed mostly unchanged till the end of the LTDII
production in 1979, where it evolved to the smaller 'Panther'
platform used on the Crown Vic, while the Cougar got the
still smaller Fairmont: aka the Fox platform, used by the Mustang
in 1979, and then back to the slightly larger T-Bird Chassis in '83.

Final Cat was rebodied FWD Mystique/Mondeo, a sad end to the
                Luxury Mustang.

So the starion / conquest wouldn't work either. Basically we are looking for cars that a company owned & rebadged as their own. The problem with that idea is most are owned by either GM, FoMoCo, daimler-benz, VW/audi group or nissan/peugot.

that is a another good one. I new the Jag was a Lincoln LS, but I didn't know about the contour. I can't decide if I count the Jag as a ford or not though. I mean they own it so I guess it falls in the same category as a cobalt and a G6. Same big company same designs. As opposed to a big company buying from another big company and then rebadging.

I'm not sure about the Contour but I've heard it is based on the Ford Mondeo platform?
