i like the smart car also, but i couldnt get use to not having a
hatchback. i see why they have been a success in europe, very
small and good mileage. they are going to still pricey until they
are more mainstream. just think how many festiva's you could
buy for just one smart car. doesnt seem to smart when ya come
to think about it that way.

Your right the Smart cars are hot; but sooo long to qualify for the smog standards here in the USA. Also, check out the Smart cars' crash resistence: they ran them headon into an SUV at the same speeds. The Smart car bounced off the SUV and the SUV got crunched up quite abit. I think the Smartcar has a website for the details and how their inner frame is able to do this.
One more important item: these are alot smaller than our Festivas, alot! Festys are close to double the size of their 2 seaters. And the one in the US now is their SUV; really.
Does 85mph interest y'all? It's governed but has a combo 6spd/auto tranny. Unable to highlight it's link here but here's the URL or just google : smart car .

Actually festivas did rate very good in their time. 88-89 were so/so but the 90-93 rated high .... at that time.

cr wasnt very specific about why the smart they had tested was
the worst car. i think they have gotten good reviews in europe.
id like to see the old review of the festiva. the smart has a
metal shell built in it around the passenger area, i believe.
i like the cars, they look like a large bugs head to me
but where is the hatchback? i wont buy a car wo one. i had an
old mr2, fun car to drive handled great, but noo room for anything.

                  I have a 97 F150.

I actually originally bought my Aspire to save money on gas and keep miles off my truck.

                  Not bad since it's a 97 with 65k.

Thinking of the Yaris, i looked up how they decided on the name. What Yaris means according to Toyota, Yaris is a combination of the name of a goddess in Greek mythology, Charis, and the German expression of agreement, "ya".

Lets combine words cuz we cant think of any good car names is what it really means.

I just got back from London. and Smart Cars are something to get used to, they are so small. Every car is small there though, I even saw one Kia Pride. That made my day, to bad I wasn't carrying my camera at the time though.
