What are the festiva pros and cons.
    Red 89LX 5speed

    Blue 97 Aspire Auto

There are a lot of pros as far as quality, fuel mileage, durability and fun factor are concerned. There is also the benefit that they're an easy and cheap car to work on, and modify for additional fun factor.

Cons? I wouldn't want to get into a serious accident my Festy.

IMHO the biggest pro is fuel economy, followed closely by the fact that they are mazda which means the other mazda B-series motors (read: bigger, better, more powerful) will go in under the hood without too much trouble... other than that, they are a blast to drive, really fast if you put in one of the larger motors designed for a car that weighs 500-800 lbs more than a festy, and there's plenty of upgrades you can do easily and cheaply with jy parts...

biggest con: your friends may laugh at you and they may get together and pick up your car someday and put it in between two trees in your yard so you can't get it out... but thats only happened to me once ...
        No festiva for me ATM...

I keep reading about axles popping out. How common is this problem?

That is not a common problem, if this happens its either been wrecked or had the wrong parts installed

                Pros:
                different (hence i hate honda's)
                fun to drive
                great gass milage
you can do anything to them yourself if you take your time
you can pi$$ people off by parking where their car would never fit, and making a u-turn where they need a 9pt turn around

                cons:
you can't blend into the crowd of honda ricers
you deprive terrorists of their oil $
not too great in accidents... but at least they can be fixed easily and cheaply with a little know how
lots of road noise, can be fixed
12" wheels, bad brakes, but that can be fixed w/ aspire swap and stock isn't too bad for daily driving
watch for your ball joints, they tend to wear, but thats not a big deal as long as you catch it b4 they go

the axle thing only happens after accidents, i just finished putting mine in w/ a brand new circlip.. hope that will fix it if not too the frame shop it goes, but you really shouldn't have that problem.

Pros: it easer to work on than a honda, toyota,or any other car from japan.
Its just as reliable, better gas mileage than 95% of the cars on the road today.
Fun to drive, easy to keep clean because of size, and what every body else said.^^^^^

Cons:Unstable when wind is high, front wheel drive, not enought power in stock form.
