I allways thought a VW turbo deisel would be cool in a festiva.....and actually give it some power......but somthing tells me that fitting it would be very hard.....we have problems with our engine swaps due to the steering rack and on VW's the exaust manifold/turbo are on the back side of the engine

    Too bad!

      that is pretty cool!!!!

      1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
      1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

Could be good idea if driving in city daily... I did think about it before installing the Kohler engine so I could save alot money with gas if I just do driving in city/traffic only. but I didn't have time to mess with my festiva and maybe in future I will keep in my mind.

If you ever go with a Kohler you should look at and stay away from certian models......

Stay away from any 25hp v twin models air or liquid cooled....they suffer from head gasket problems!

The best models for reliability are the 20hp Air cooled V Twin

And the 26hp fuel injected V Twin engine......awsome power...reliable and awsome on fuel .....plus they will start right away on a cold day.

I do landscaping and run kohler engines all day every day.....all in all they are great.....but stay away from that 25hp model!!!!!

I saw that a few months ago. Can you imagine what a turd it is? A stock Festiva is slow, now divide the power by 6 and you have quarter miles times measured with a sun dial, you could take a nap from 0-60 .....
1986 Comp Prep SVO Mustang(1 of 83) Four cylinder turbo! (Think first Fox body "R" model!)
1995 F-150 Extra Cab and it was free!
            1991 Festiva L, Surf Blue with A/C
1995 Jeep Cherokee 2wd 5 speed 4.0 and it was free!
1993 Aqua Festiva and it was cheap!
1994 Brake Swap and it was cheap!
1969 Ford F100 Big Block Ranger and it was free! (coming 2/12)
