  • engine rebuild

OK i think i might need to rebuild my engine, well have a shop do it b/c i don't have the tools to do it myself. The car has been siting for over a year at my friends house towed it over hear so i can work on it, had the starter fix and put back on today i can hear the start kick in but the engine doesn't turn at all. two days ago i but a penetrating oil in the spark plug holes when i took the starter. i even tryed a wrench on the crank shaft still nothing the bolt just tightens up more

The engine shouldnt be locked up from sitting for a year. You shouldnt be able to tighten the crank shaft bolt either.

well if i try with the key nothing the starter kicks on but nothing turns when i try at the crank shaft bolt it turns but i have to have a pipe on the wench and take a lot of force but none on the pulls turn i im going to stick a stick or something to see if the pistons move right now and see what happens

Is it out of gear when you try turning it over with a wrench on the crank?

i was about to hit my head on the wall a few time b/c i didn't think about that but yes it wasn't in gear at all so i took off the vale cover and its rust city. i didn't take it all the way off but its about a 3 inch gap so i got a good look (intake in the way to get it all off) so I'm guessing the rest is just as bad and i looked at the oil and it looks like gray slime, idk if in needs to be rebuilt but i do know if it needs to be broken all the way down a cleaned so might as well replace a what needs to and just have it cleaned I'm think about 1000 bucks for this but not to sure what do you guys think?

Yeah I always had to take the throttle body off to get the valve cover off. ( I know some of you don't )If its that rusty up in the head maybe the pistons are locked up in the block. Sounds like it may have been submerged or something with the grey slime and all.

go find a producet called KROIL. we use it in stuck V8 Studebakers in my other car club, pour it down the spark plug holes and let it set couple of days, unless the piston is really ate into the cylinder walls, it should free them up.
