I bought the car ('89 carb'd, stock) 3 weeks ago, and was told about it but it never happened to me, UNTIL yesterday.
The car runs perfect all the time, no problems at all. then i was getting on the freeway and WHAM, it started. 1/2 way through 1st gear it feels like someone is turning the gas off, it doesn't backfire or anything just boggs way down. If you SLOWLY , and i mean slow, you can accelerate no problem. also when you get into high RPM it goes away. just under acceleration. and it is completely random. I pulled over, and sat for a minute, got mad and reved the crap out of it. and then it worked fine.
It was fine until i decided to do a "burnout" this morning. it started doing it after that too. can figure it out. the carb has gas in the bowl..
also i have found, if its in the driveway, if you slowly advance the throttle under the hood, it will stumble and die around 3000rpm, if i spray carb cleaner in right at that time it revs higher, carb cleaner is supposed to kill it, so im thinking there is more air than fuel, and the cleaner removes the extra air, makeing a better a/f ratio. what could cause this?
