Yes it will. You won't be able to hear the pump. It will only run if the crankshaft position sensor detects the engine rotating. Be careful when you jump wire the connector if you have the fuel line detached. It spews all over the place.
Where am I, and what am I doing in this handbasket??

dang, i guess i'll just yank the whole gas tank out and throw it in the cubstiva and see if that helps. i wanted to wait and see if i could get the "partstiva" running so that i knew that the pump and parts were good.

some of those pages were from the ford Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM). i often see them on ebay or you might be able to still get them new from Helm Publications which is the official publisher of ford service and training literature. the page describing the fuel pump self-check is from the 88-92 Electronic Engine Control Sysyems which compares the difference in controls between fords EEC-IV (domestic) engine management systems to those used on their Non-NAAO (North American Automotive Operations) engines (ie tracer 1.6/ probe 2.2/ escort 1.8/ capri). also from Helm.
