Hey, You are right - Somebody needs ot do a "How to Install an aftermarket pump" for this car. THe problem is I think the pump is in the bottom of the tank and dirt gets in there and prevent it from pumping.
Even if you put a remote pump in, it may be too clogged to pass fluid. I keep a "spritzer" bottle of window cleaner in my car. I reach my arm out the window and spritz the windsheild. That was my windsheild washer repair -LOL!

my pump died, i took the pump out, took it apart and fixed the motor, put it back together and caulked the bottom up, put some fluid in the tank and it started leaking... i figured screw it, its an extra 10lbs anyway, pulled the whole thing out, filler neck, tank, motor... deff an extra luxury item i do NOT need!~Nate

My pump still works, but the tube is clogged JUST before the sprayer, and easy fix, but, being a mechanic, my own car is the LAST one I work on, thus I have done without for many years!Contact me for information about Festiva Madness!

I'm thinking of putting in a junkyard pump and bottle from another car on my firewall, right side. I'd wrap the extra long hose around my heater hose, cover that with insulation, and when the engine warms up: HEATED WIPER FLUID!
What do ya'll think?

That is a cool idea Karl !!
Yes wrap the hose around heater hose , or if you could find a way to heat the tank itself .
I think Santa knows I want a remote start for my Festiva ------------------------------------------------

There are high-end aftermarket electric heated washer fluid kits, but they are expensive. This would involve looking for an appropriately sized and shaped bottle to mount on the firewall, lots of fluid hose able to handle high temps, some rewiring, and insulation.
Shouldn't cost more than $20 to $30 or so.
The downside is that you have to wait to have your hot fluid.
Another way to do it would be to use a DC heating element, probably right before the fluid goes to the sprayer.

i know, i like the home-job way anyways
I was thinking... with doing it the way you are talking about... you would first get cold fluid (the liquid in the line after the heated winded section) then you would get some hot fluid from what was up against the heater hose.. then you would get cold fluid again... what if you were to insulate the bottle.. and have it constantly circulating thru the hose that wraps around the heater hose... with a pump that could run for long durations of course..
this is the one canadian tire sells $60cdn

Here's what I did on Uncle Fester. I took 3/16 steel brake line, made a double-pass loop the width of the exhaust manifold, and sandwiched it between the manifold and the heat shield. Cut the vinyl hose and connected each end to an end of the steel loop. I get hot washer fluid in less than a minute after startup.Jim DeAngelis
