I had to replace the bushings in my ‘88 several years ago, and found a lot of info from the Mazda Protege ppl (ours are pretty much identical)

      Mazda part numbers:

      B001-46-062 - Bushings at the Transaxle, you'll need 2

GA2a-46-062 - Bushings at the Shifter, also 2

      Fancy bushings:

Protege Bronze Oil Shifter Bushings -Machined to much closer tolerances than the original ones, these shifter bushings will eliminate sluggishness

      A how-to that’s pretty darn close:

Ok, so i needed to replace my shifter bushings as all of us have at some point. So i got the parts and went at it. I went ahead and replaced the bug rubber one as well since I was in the area but as previously stated it is unnecessary in most cases. The ojob took about two hours, but that...

The search function is your friend. Many write ups on shifter rebuilds. Just removed most of my slop by replacing the four bushings and the bushing at the trans. Got the four bushings from NAPA.
