  • Are my hoses correct?

I'm not sure what the silver thing is called connected to the air filter housing, but there are four small hoses (one to the left of the 2 large hoses, 3 to the right coming from underneath) and I'm not sure I have them installed correctly.

On the left side of the two big hoses is the blue-spot hose connecting to the filter assembly. On the right side, moving away from the two large hoses, I'm showing the one coming up from the bottom with the in-line filter/valve deal (the one with the arrow pointing down). Next is the white-spot hose coming from the A/C-E/L solenoid valve. Finally is the blank hose from the valve on the passenger side of the A/C-E/L. Can someone verify this with theirs please, if my description didn't confuse you too much. Thanks.

Ford calls it the "pulse air" system. I'll try to remember to look at them when I get home.

You are in luck. All 4 hoses were easily traced and are easy to connect as they are all near the top of the engine compartment. First locate the rack of plastic solenoids on the firewall. Three of the hoses connect to the solenoids. Sorry, I don't know what the solenoids do so will identify by position and colour. The routing of the hoses, from front to back on the pulse air box, are ...
#1 blue hose connects to front of blue (righmost) solenoid.
#2 black hose runs straight down through a check valve to a white plastic T-connector on a black hose which runs over to the charcoal cannister
#3 white hose connects to top of orange (left middle) solenoid
#4 black hose connects to top of green (leftmost) solenoid

Cool. I had it right. I had some problems at first with it starting right up and flying up to 3000 rpm and not being able to run without me keeping it at about 2000 with the gas pedal. Figured I had a long list of checks ahead of me, when I got my PCV valve grommet for the valve cover, put it in, started it up and purred like a kitten just like it used to. Time to clean it up and get it right with the state and all. Thanks for your help.
