Speedo cable

I took it loose from the tranny and used graphite , and lubed it from the tranny end , now it squeaks worse than ever ?

It only use to squall when it was very cold , noise went away in several miles .. Today it never stopped after the bunk lube job

My question is ..will the cable pull all the way out the tranny end to lube the entire cable , without removing the cluster .

Yup. Unscrew it at the tranny end and you can pull out the inner cable completely.

I had to lube the wifes speedo cable last weekend. It was making a heck of a racket. It was really loud and when it started squealing the needle would peg out. I took both ends out and hooked the cordless drill up to the tranny end. I had her squirt in some lube while I ran the drill. I pushed and pulled the cable in and out of the casing a couple of inches working it back and forth while she lubed. It forced out some old grease that was almost hard and then started working a lot easier. Seems to have done the trick no more noise and the needle quit hopping.

I just undone it at the tranny , just the cable end , not the speedo gear end , pulled the cable right out , wiped it off and spayed a special lube in the housing and sprayed the whole cable , re-inserted it and re-attached it to the tranny ... 5 min job tops peace and quiet now :lol:

did just like packrat427, except i put 75-90wt gear oil on mine. it's been 2 years and about 12,000 miles and not a peep out of it.

I use Molybdenum Disulfide grease (black moly lube)
