I am going to change a standard cluster for one with the tach and speedo, are 89 festivas pre wired for the tach, to just plug in, or do I have to run the wires?. Is there anything else I have to do, Thanks

i changed my 1988 over and it was just plug and play. no other wires to run. had to reposition the speedo cable.if i remember right ,had to move it to the lright by pulling it thru the firewall and bringing it back in on the other side of a bracket thats under the dash.someone else may be able to elaborate on the positioning of the cable.

I did same, piece of cake! The tach runs off the speedo cable, just as the speedometer does....

I changed my 89 L over and the tach didn't work. The plug was missing 2 or 3 wires. Somebody here did the same thing and just ran a wire from the coil to make the tach work.

The tach gets an electric signal from the coil. It's not mechanically driven by a cable.

Mine was just plug and play in my 90L. All the wires were already there.

My 88 was not plug and play. Now its a parts and it doesn't matter. It appears some festies are pre-wired and some aren't.
