  • Shifter Loose

On one of my Festivas the shifter can be put into say first gear and moved around in a complete circle... you can't feel the "H" pattern at all! What do I need to fix this?

most likely shifter bushings. FB71 is selling them on here i believe. look in the for sale forum.

Yep , most likely the shifter bushings then have deteriorated and now you have excess play .

Can you pull the shifter up , or is it solid in the floor .
Meaning the shifter itself can fall down thru the floor .

you'll need 6 plastic bushings all in all for the whole assembly

Yes, your shifter bushings are definitely the problem. For the shifter base, you can replace the shot rubber bushing with washers that you can size up at the hardware store. That'll firm up the base a bit. For the cables, you'll need some replacements... you could use steel rollerblade bushings that will fit in the place of the bearing in the bearing race. It's a popular mod with Mitsubishis and Hondas. After that, you should have a firmer shift than stock

i just bought a 93 today. My shifter falls down. Do I need bushings or is it the lever housing?
