Starter Problem. Works ,most of the time

    maybe turn the crank sprocket with a breaker bar so the startter has a new location on the flywheel to engage.

      Yeah there could be a bad spot(or even a couple)and when he kicks it over it grinds but it moves flywheel just enough so that when he hits it again. No grinding and it starts. Like everyone has said. it sure cant hurt to take a few minutes to double check.
