wow, now I need a handful of advil, I suggest you say very nicely, "Yes Jim, I would love to know an easy way to find out what my problem is so I can stop beating my head against the wall about this"

I do not say this about more than a handful of people.......

From my short time as a member here, FB71 is an EXTREMELY knowledgable gentleman who, when he speaks, us little 'uns should shut up and listen to.

why, thank you! I always respond well to flattery...

ok, first... yes, without that wire getting voltage from the stator tap in the carbed alt, there IS something wrong with your choke. It won't release without the electric heater working correctly. The heater cannot be wired to +12v, because that will burn out the coil. With that said, let me do a bit of research tomorrow to see if we can't make one good alt out of the two you have.

Your right FB71 has been very helpful but my choke issue is not what I have a problem with. And he wasn't even the one that was suggesting it was bad so I really don't know why you thought I wasn't listening to him. I can easily repair this wire that I broke and the choke will work I just need to know If this alternator will work and how to get it wired up correctly. I have to got out of town today so I can't work on it anyway but if anyone has any advice on this or has ran into it before it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok it's fixed. Switched the wire around and tightened up the belt and all is good. Thanks for the info guys.
