Originally posted by funky technicianboth axels are new, and its the clunk is like a tention is being relieved, like when a strut bearings is siezed, but its not that, and the clunk is felt in any steering point depending on the cercumstance, such as if I turn the wheel to the right, it will clunk when I then switch to the left, and vise versa
While my inner tie rod end is bad, I have almost 600k on my car, of very very hard driving, and I hit a curb REAL hard a couple of months ago dodging a jackhole in a suv.....freaking gas guzzling SOB.....but as I understand it, they are not a common problem in the festy, especially if the boot is good.......
Also, I have had the same noise for years. Where the lower control arm bolts into the body of the car, I have a bolt that will NOT screw down tight, and will NOT come any looser, either. It does make a sound similar to what you are describing, so possibly the ball joint on the end of the control arm may be bad.Contact me for information about Festiva Madness!
