When you do what depends on how much you use the car. I don't use mine much (retired) and have not chaged the spark plugs in years, just clean and check the gap annually. I do wipe off the ignition wires and distributor cap twice a year as the ignition system seems to be sensitive to dirt and moisture. I can't remember when I last replaced the PCV valve. I do take it out and give it a shake once a year or so to make sure it still rattles. I think you can use a bit of judgement about these things. The car passes the Ontraio emissions test with flying colours every two years.

well see i'm new to cars.... 19 and this is my second car.. and well yeah the first car was really messed up before i got it.. so it can't be completely my fault.. but i value my festiva so i'm just trying to get it into tip top shape. it's out of commission atm control arm bar is bent.. going to cost 84 for new one and can't really afford it.. well i can but i kinda want to spend that money on some aspire breaks. my yard just got a 94 in and overall it looks pretty good for a car at the yard..

You take VERY good care of your car!

My yellow '91L rarely got an oil change (I didn't pop the hood for at least 6 months), had the original spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor; I never looked at the suspension or checked the bearings, and basically drove the snot out of the poor car.

The guy before me was equally abusive and he got 4 years and about 30,000 miles out of it before it became mine.

I put 15k on it before the tranny finally blew up. It never complained once and I got no less than 42 mpg per tank.

Oh, and the car had about 214k by that time.

"You can easily do the plugs without overtightening. Just turn them till just barely hand tight, then do not go more than 1 1/2 turns past that. No torque wrench needed...."
But 1 1/2 times after snug is way to tight...IMO
Wow, that will teach me to post in repair help when I have been drinking, I MUST have been thinking oil filter, whew........
