Dash bolts

Hey guys, I finally got my BP running today, and I just saw that it was leaking antifreeze...Turns out I bent the heater core inlet while I dropped the block in... Now, I know that I have to remove the dash, and I wanted to know what tool to use to remove the bolts on top of the dash, right under the windshield? My smallest ratchet wont fit there, and my 10mm wrench don't come at the correct angle and started to strip the bolt. What do you guys use???

I have used a 1/4 drive 10mm socket on an extension with a universal joint
on the end

also one of those flexy screwdrivers with a 1/4 attachment and socket have
worked well for me in the past

Check with Stefan...he recently...in the last several months...pulled the fan and perimeter stuff.

I have those nice sockets from Craftsman that use a wrench over the middle. I used a ratchet wrench on it and worked as good as any other easy to reach bolt. I just put my dash back together last week. They are super shallow and are a lifesaver.

I put my 1/4'' drive 10mm socket in a vice-grip and went to town BE CAREFUL when those bolts break loose. I was pullin' pretty hard and smacked my wind shield and almost cracked it.

Craftsman (and others) make a wonderful swivel-head 10mm ratcheting wrench. Better known as the "Gear Wrench Flex Head". There are 2 types: one has a swivel head that pivots more or less freely and the other type has a head that can be locked into position (every few degrees). I have both. Personally I favor the locking type.

This is what Dean and I have used many times to remove them @#$%^&* bolts on top of the dash.

I tried a socket and vise grip but it just slips...The idea to just break the plastic around the bolts crossed my mind, but I have enough squeaking and cracking noises already, so I'm gonna do this the right way and just buy the right tool lol!!! I guess it's gonna be a few more days until I finally get to drive my Festy with my new BP...

I just used a 1/4 craftsman thin head ratchet and 10 mm socket.
