strange muffler noise...

^^Great Story....think about it the install brakes for what $125 and axle with a life time warranty. And while they're at it...they will resurface the rotors or drums....they'll even turn them to the min thickness or max diameter. Next time your in...another $100 per rotor for something the destoryed previously. For 99% of cars the rotor cost $25 and take more time to thow out the box the rotor cam than to change it.

Change pads/shoes at proper frequency and with normal braking....the rotors or drums should never require resurfacing.

Quite a coincidence. On my way back from Florida on the I81 in the 1980's I pulled into a Midas shop in Pennsylvania to have the muffler looked at under wanrranty. They told me I needed a complete exhaust system. I drove home with the noise. When I got back to Ottawa I took it into the local Midas shop and all they did was replace a pipe. I wrote and complained to the Mayor of the town in Pennsylvania. It may have been King of Prussia. Name sounds familliar.

I wouldn't single out Midas. I've got padded estimates from Speedy here in Ottawa. The local Mr Transmission tried to stick me for work the car didn't need, and then left the wheel lugs and gear linkages loose when I said "No".

Worst is the local independent who retired and sold to a new owner who is ripping off people who grew to trust the previous owner.

You have to be on your guard. I've found it really pays to take the time and get to know your car.
