Fudge!, Whistling, AC pulley, Broken bolt. :(

well working on getting the whistling out of my car. Targeted at the ac pulley/crankshaft/camshaft area. dropped motor pulled ac pully off the crankshaft(?). In the process a head of 1 of the bolts rips off. Turn engine on, timing on the crank flys off (forgot to screw in bolts and 2screws. drop motor again, readjust the timing, and put back on bolts and screws(left the broken alone, just tighten the 2 screws and 3 other bolts. Turn engine on, 4got to tighten alt belt, no whistling but screeching like heck.

Arggggg back at it tomorrow.

The thing that I want to know is is it ok if i leave off the ac pulley thing because the car has no ac(pulled out)

And is it ok to just run the 3 bolts and 2 screws on the spacer for the crank or should i do more work and take the big bolt out and try to get the rest of the rounded bolt out?? Honestly im tired.

Hate to say it. But you should really try to fix it right. If you dont it could cause more problems down the road. And if it just broke off it may not be that hard to get out. Get an easy out. Or a left handed drill bit. If its not stuck bad the drill would grab it and pull it right out.

As far as the AC pulley goes, you can leave it off if you like. I hate breaking bolts off. It seems like it always happens on a pain in the neck job to begin with. But like Monsoon says, and easy out or left handed drill bit should get it out.

Also, don't use the spacer that was between the two pulleys. There should be a retainer that was on the outside of the AC pulley. Use that on the outside of the crank pulley. I believe it's a little thicker and sturdier. Keep the spacer with the AC pulley for later use or sell them to me.

there is a silver and a gold spacer, they both look alike. i dont be able to get a drill soon so imight have to leave itin.

Bahhh! tear out the a/c and go single pulley for reduced rotational weight! But yeah I'd easy-out that broken bolt.

Must be a little different that mine. There's a definate difference in thickness and shape in the ones on my car.

Yes it had ac but not currently.

I figured out that the whistling was because the two spacers were together.

Pulled the ac pulley out and just left the crankshaft on.

The gold spacer is thicker then the silver (your correct gotta)

Just used the thicker one and just placed the 3 bolts and 2 screws back on.

Its gonna be a while to get the easy out so a few times a week ill check the bolts.

arggg now the crank is shaking as hell, maybe i do need the ac pulley on to balace it???

You probably need to get the bolt fixed. I think the crank pulley is a harmonic balancer and if it is installed wrong you would get the shaking.

is there anyway to get it out without a drill??

If its broken flush and you can see the bolt at all, you may be able to tap it out slowly with a punch and hammer. Just be careful that you dont damage the top of the theads in the hole.
