  • Changing the Transmission Question

Would there be any problems associated with taking a 5 speed out of a 93 Festy and replacing it with a 4 speed? I can't think of any myself but I'm deferring to those of you that would be more knowledgeable than I. The change was made because the 5 went bad and the 4 was available.

Nope, direct swap, the only problem is that you will keep trying to get it in 5th.... LOL....

I had to do that a while back when the inout shaft bearing went bad on my 5 speed. I got a 4 speed off of CarbonVmax (from this forum) and used it until I repaired the 5 speed. The biggest problem is continually trying to shift into 5th gear. Took me a week to stop doing that. Everything else is the same.

Except you will have an extra sensor on the 4 spd trans for the shift light. Ignore it, and it is a direct fit.
