no heat from vents in any festiva. floor and defrost only. it sucks but you'll get used to it after a while.

That's interesting. I was driving in mine last night with the air on. It got a little cool so I turned the temp control to warmer. It didn't get warmer so I turned it all the way to warm and still no warm/hot air.

I know the heater/floor blows hot.

replace the thermostat with the correct Ford part - search the threads for the PN

As a followup, I went for a drive this morning and switched the air from the dash vents to the defroster and had all the hot air I wanted. Switched back to the dash vents and hot air went away.

From flow diagram in the book, there are two trap doors operated by the mode select lever. One is the the vent door. The other is the blend-air door. Both need to be half open for bi-level flow. I've never had my nose in there and I'm only looking at the diagram, but could it be that a linkage or lever is out of adjustment?

Dash vents blow outside temp, or A/C only! That is just the way it is. Also, in the winter, block off the dash vents,(I use two small chunks of foam rubber) by removing the radio bezel, and blocking the outlets to keep the cold air out. Don't forget them come Springtime.

^^agreed...I stuff paper towels in mine. I hate the cold air blowing through in the winter. You may want to block off the radiator in the winter also....helps with the heat situation, even when you have the proper thermostat and fully functioning system.

I've been thinking of putting a 2nd heater core in-line where the AC box normally goes behind the glove box, that way I could have heat on all vents!
