    Hey Marv,
I'm a former goldsmith so I understand and own casting equipment. Unfortunately, everything I have done is on a miniature scale. My question to you is this. What did you make your mold out of to cast the handle? I am familiar with sand casting, cottlefish (or something like that) and casting in coal or charcoal(least I think that is what it was, I've been out of the game for 10 years).

1 1/8" Most of the time will get it. Though some have been 27mm,28mm and 29mm. So be prepared for what you may find.

It was green sand casting (water based) I used sand that was fine to begin with and run it dry through a garbage disposal a few times. Then the handle was hand finished with 320 grit wet and dry, then 600 grit. After that it was buffed to a polished finish.
              Hope that helps.....
