  • Head bolts

What do you call the socket you need for the head bolts. Guess I need to buy one. Its like the negative of a 12 point star.

Torque bit ?? A 13mm six point fits over it tight. Almost works. I use an extractor to get one out to take to the tool store. Also, are the bolts reuseable ?

I dont think your supposed to reuse the bolts because when you tighten them you stretch them a little bit and if you reuse them they will stretch to much and arnt as strong.

These bolts are not TTY (Torque To Yield). They are reusable.

They're just 12 point bolts, nothing special. Should be a 12-pt 12mm, IIRC.

Well I didnt try a 12 point, most of my sockets are six. Ill try that. Thanks ! Couldnt get a good pic of the head. Its kind of mangled from me removing it.

Just as Jim stated Marcus, the 12mm 12 point is what's called for. I just put some new valve stem seals on my B6 and checked the torque on my head bolts while I had the valve cover off.

Yup, 12 points. People come into the store asking for a "special" reverse star socket all the time.

That was the ticket I feel dumb now. A good reason why you should flush out your cooling system once in a while. Not my motor BTW.
