I was installing a radio in my car last night and had to stop due a blown fuse on the constant +12v line(not the switched line). This morning, the car will not shift out of park. Are the soleniod for the shift lock and radio on the same fuse?? Seems like a coincidence. I was looking at an electrical diagram last night and the fuse should be either the cigarette lighter or the interior fuse.

no shift lock solenoid that I know of....could be wrong. But I know I can run through the gears easily without the car running or even a key in the ignition. Thats even without pushing the clutch in."FLTG4LIFE" @FINALLEVEL , "PBH"

if he's stuck in "park", that should be an automatic.
but i think those shiftlocks are done with a cable, no electronic.Joey Richard Jr.

EDIT: Come to think of it, the first time was when I had a dead battery and I was stuck in a narrow driveway between two houses and couldn't boost it, and the second time was when I was changing out the radio. Didn't know it at the time, but the radio wasn't "dead" like I thought, it was actually the power line filter running to it that was shot (black plastic block tucked in behind the lighter).Last edited by mnemonicoverload; 10-10-2008, 02:36 AM.

Oh, okay. I've only ever seen a Mitsu Mirage taken apart because of a similar problem...there was a cable going from the brake pedal to the shifter, so you can't shift out of park or into reverse without pressing the pedal. But I don't know what's there for when you start it...Joey Richard Jr.
