Well things were going great. I took the car out on it's first drive with the new motor. No noise, working good. Now it has a bunch of loud clicking coming from the head. Man I'm bummed now.

did you pressurize the adjusters before install? Also I have had the rockers turn a little during install and then fall off to the side once started....had to go back redo them and took care of the problem."FLTG4LIFE" @FINALLEVEL , "PBH"

is this a new engine or a new to you engine? The trick with these cars is when you hear noise, go to a THINNER oil. this is against everything we've been taught by our fathers. I run the valvoline 75000miles 5w-30 and my car sounds brand new now. I've even toyed with the idea of putting the M1 0-30 in the car when it gets cooler as im only driving at night.1993 GL 5 speed
It's a MazdaFordnKia thing, and you will understand!

The hydraulic lifter/lash adjusters need to be pumped up....sometimes they will do it themselves but if I have had them out I have not had luck with it. You can take them between your thumb and forefinger and if you can squeeze them....I pump them up by putting them in a bowl of oil and squeeze in and out till you can not anymore. If you want there is a little hole that you can take a pin point and relieve the pressure in ones you can't squeeze and then it lets all the oil out when you do squeeze it....bad out and pump up with good. Has always worked for me....and if new lifters I do this also."FLTG4LIFE" @FINALLEVEL , "PBH"

The engine came from me, V8Festiva. It has in the 60,000 mile range I think. Was in a wrecked car that was parked about two years. I removed it and had it in my shop . Plans were to install it in my daughter's car.
90s model engine.
I hope that KrayZFrameRate can get it firgured out and make it to the meet.
I have another one in a car running if he needs to do a swap while here.
At times most all my cars will start up clicking. I have found turn off quick and start again in a few seconds and the clicking will stop. Sometimes I may do this a couple times.
The yellow car I drove to Ohio sometimes clicks. But I would drive it anywhere and have.
Hope this helps.

this was actually a common problem with Festies and Aspires when they were NEW!
I can recall many unsold units sitting on the lot for months. Finally go to move or demo one, you had to hotshot it, and it would clatter like an out-of-adjustment sewing machine. We'd add a bottle of oil viscosity enhancer (STP, Motor Honey, etc.), run it at 2000rpm for about 10 minutes, and it would quiet right up.Jim DeAngelis
