  • New Oil Leak????

Now that I have my Festy running like a top I have a new oil leak. The car is not leaking when sitting/not running. Only leaks when running on the passenger side and loosing a lot of oil. I suspected the pan gasket but that doesn't appear to be the problem. After crawling under the car the oil seems to be coming from somewhere around where the timing belt sits. I'm thinking some sort of seal but not sure how to get to it. I checked earlier forums and see nothing. Any ideas of what the problem is and how difficult to fix?

Crank and/or cam seal(do them both at the same time), gotta take off the cam and crank sprockets to get seals out. Took me a few hours to do, not too hard, use the haynes manual if ya got it. Put it at TDC and mark stuff first.

The bottom half of my engine is caked with crud. Cleaning I can do but what's the best way to get a good view of these two seals? I can't see much from above or below with the car running. Is removing the wheel with the car on jacks (car running) the best vantage point?

You won't be able to see the crank or cam seals until you remove the pulleys and the timing cover first. I had to loosen up my motor mount to drop the engine down far enough to get an impact wrench on the crank bolt. It is not an easy job unless you have done engine work before or have experience changing timing belts in my opinion.
