5spd only has 4 gears

This is a complete lack of 5th gear. I will crawl under it tomorrow to see if it is something with the linkage not pulling all the way out or something.

i was the last owner of the car, but i never had it insured to drive on the road and never drove the car fast enough to put it in fifth. i remember shifting it through all the gears sitting still and they felt good. i have contacted the guy who built and drove the car for 2-3 years, i`m hoping he can help me and Logan resolve this issue.

Well looks like it is something internal. I crawled under the car and the linkage looks fine, nothing bent.

It feels like it goes into 5th, and from underneith when shift into 5th is pulls out the same distance as 3rd gear...looks like I am going to possibly need a transmission.

Sounds like 5th gear is shot. I looked for any posts from Deathshead that mentioned trans trouble and could not find any.

I have seen a number of Festivas with 5 speeds converted to 4 speeds.

My wife's and daughter's car were both from the factory, 5 speeds.

When the transmission failed, someone installed 4 speeds.

Must have been a number of used 4 speeds in the junk yards and no 5 speeds.
