wiring ??

I left the lights on in my Festiva this afternoon When I tried to jump start it (yes I had postive/negative correct) there wasa big spark. Turn out that there is a small box type thing (sorry about the technical terms) almost right behind the battery that hold 3 separate wire. Each side of the 3 wired plugs into the box, form 3 small loops. I burned one of these up & am not sure what it is; the car won't start without it. I have looked online, but can't seen to find anything that remotely looks like this to order the part. Any hekp would be greatly appreciated!!!

They're "fusible links". The center one is the Big Kahuna. Without it, the car absolutely will not start.

Thankx - I will look it up. Are they expensive or hard to get - do you know?

Several auto parts stores carry them, but not in a "wire loop" form (at least I haven't seen them this way). The ones in the parts stores look like little rectangular fuses and several folks on here just plug these into where the wires go. They aren't expensive.

I'm not totally certain about the amps (DC current) rating... 30 amps?? 50 amps??

they are about $5 at autozone
I run a green 35amp? in the center and a pink 25amp? one on each side of it!
they don't look like they will fit from the picture, but they do.

very strange .. I do not find these festive fuse .. when I noticed them, there were only a few cables brown and white ....

Has anyone thought about converting to a fuse/relay bos that the new style fuse could just be plugged in? I need the whole contraption (sp) I have all my wires twisted together with an electrician wire nut..

Check out the accessories available at a well equipped power boat store. They have some pretty nice fuse blocks that might fit your needs.
