broken driver wiper mount

ok, i looked and there's no info on this so here goes:

i have two (2) festivas that have broken driver wiper arm mounts. it seems to be a relatively common issue but there are no fixes for it.

as i see it, it one were to attempt a fix, one would be required to seperate the spot welds of the upper cowl to gain access to the mount area in order to weld it back into place.

is there anyone out there with expierence with this issue?

note: the arms function properly, but because the mounts are broken, they can't properly clear the windshield.

I had the same problem with my car,went to JY and cut a repair piece from another Festiva,then I drilled out the spot welds on my cowl piece then raised it up enought to fit the new repair piece in place,I used pop rivets to hold it in place or you could spot weld,then I spray painted the repair to match the car,pushed the cowl piece back in place pop riveted it done,hope that helps!

I JB welded a big washer over the arm through the wiper access hole once, worked well.
