My hatch isn't closing. I tried moving the latch part the middle clockwise to align with the piece it connects to. Now it can't get it to move at all in either direction. Anyone else have this problem. How can I correct it?

wd40!!! and a screwdriver....if that doesn't work i would suggest a few new words LOL
Also, try it squeezing the handle used to open the gate...if it is unlocked...try unlocking the lock with the key too.
It just dawned on me that the linkage between the handle and the latch may have become disconnected. If you still can't get it to open, you may want to check that.

Looks to me like the latch is closed, the arm that holds the striker when the hatch is closed is rolled over. If you try to slam the hatch shut when the latch is in the closed position it can jam (and ruin) the latch.
You should stick the screwdriver in the latch (just like the striker would fit in it) and pull it open WHILE you pull up on the outer handle.
Of course this won't work with it in the locked position as has already been mentioned.

That latch seems to be bent and twisted a little, that might be your problem!
thats what I was thinking too. Probably from slamming it down while the latch was closed.

could be similar to the hatch not opening issues ive had with both of my festivas. once and only once they both for some reason would not open even though it appeared to be fuctioning right. luckly mine was closed and a forceful leg from the inside on the hatch seemed to be the trick. but as mentioned it does seem bent.

Terry I have another latch if you need it. Let me know.
Thanks Brian
I managed to get the latch to turn enough so I could close it. I was able to shut the hatch but it wasn't shut all the way because I could hear it knocking when I drove. I'm going to look into it today/tommorrow. I'll try some WD40 to loosen things up a little bit.
