Does it run rough only when you first start it, or all the time?

Condensation in the tank causing water in the fuel. Drain the tank, (there's a plug in it), Dump new gas in, keep your tank above half full in cold weather, and run gas line antifreeze. Follow the instructions on the bottle. I use 1 ever second tank usually.
Of course the red makes it go faster..

[QUOTE=hawkdoc60;198666]Does it run rough only when you first start it, or all the time?[/QU i keep my tank full most of the time. the last time i drove it it was running rough then all of a sudden i put it in second gear and drove it for a bit then there was like a surge and the roughness went away. could be the freeze. i will put some anti freeze line in thanks

typically OEM champion 64 or NGK's I think, but that might only be for EFI.
If you have the original hood there is a sticker on it and should give the suggested plug and gap for the vehicle.

                      Gas line antifreeze?
Isn't that ethanol, what they put in the fuel by default?
Does is make any difference to add it now?

                        No it is not!
But it should help absorb water and get it through the fuel system, if that is the issue.
Methanol (typical gas antifreeze) and Isopropanol (Seafoam) are better.
That said I think you are correct WmWatt.
I would use a carb/injection cleaner like Seafoam in the tank for the next few tanks and see if that helps.
He may have already found part of the answer with the "gunked up" plug.

                          plugs

just bought motorcraft AGS32C from ford, gap is 44, will replace on theursday weather permitting, the plugs that are in there now are from auto zone i think they were bosch pre gap. never again they only lasted 10000 miles.

Me thinks 0.44 is outside the spec.
