So if I follow that, will my car still be driveable after taking the A/C out? Will anything mess up with the cooling fan?

no, your car will shrivel up and die without being able to keep the occupants cool and dry during the summer..........

and to your second question: no

and to your third question: send the system that you removed to me, free of charge of course

Your festiva will be fine (and a little lighter), after the AC is properly removed. I removed mine, and had no issues. In fact, Brian Mc took it in trade for a spoiler.

Which I still have not installed...two years later.

Just be patient, when removing the system, and you won't even have to cut any wires...

If you remove the system "nicely", you can re-sell it (or trade it off).

                Good Luck!

                Cheers!

How much does it weigh...all the components and how many HP does it use when off and also when in use?

Well, I just left it on for now. You all will be the first to know if I take it off though. I had to get the car back together to get to work this morning b/c the heater core went out on my Exploder

The A/C setup weighs about 35 pounds (ballpark estimate), with the compressor being the heaviest part.

My '88L had A/C, and it noticeably robbed power when the compressor kicked on. For that reason, there's a switch on the gas pedal that cuts off the compressor when you floor it.

Not sure about the HP losses though, maybe someone could chime in with an exact number.
