I was wondering if over time and lots of miles if the throttle cable stretches and would need to be adjusted for better throttle response? My car feels like the gas pedal travels a little further to start accelerating. Once its up to speed, and pulls hard and reaches 55 mph pretty easily. Just getting off the line it seems like it takes a while. I have an 89 L with 184,000 miles on it and it starts right up and idles like a Rolex. Have any of you adjusted your throttle cables? I've seen instructions on how to do it in the Haynes manual.

Before you "adjust" anything, see if you have slack in the throttle cable.
I've needed to adjust more than a few, but only if they needed it!'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

agreed, see if there is slack.... they are pretty straight forward to adjust.
